Zu Studios is open everyday for the artists but if you want to visit out of events times it is best to contact one of the artists and arrange a time.
There are two different entrances to Zu Studios if you are visiting for an event the front entrance is a green door on the riverside of the studios accross the river from Tescos. We normally put a glowing rainbow ball outside to help people find it. Unfortunately now the administrators have put bollards to stop people parking on the riverside so you will have to park on the road and walk a short distance past the four green warehouses to the white one which has sussex reprodustion furniture written on the roof.
If you are visiting to meet one of the artists we normally have the gate at the back open. This is easier to find. As you turn into Phoenix Place there is a carpark on the left handside after 50m. Directly infront of you is cutform and to the right is Zu Studios. You will recognise it by the white metal gate with 7 Phoenix Place written on it and it is distinctive because we have removed some of the facade and you can see the original building brickwork with an original carved 1911 sign.
Directions
The easiest way to find the studios if you are coming by car along the A27 is to take the exit signposted Lewes Industrial Estates at the roundabout which leads towards a tunnel, (If you are coming from Brighton direction this is the roundabout after the one which is signposted for Lewes). Then go through the tunnel and you will come out at a roundabout with a shell sculpture turn left (the first exit), continue over the mini roundabout and bridge (tescos on your right) and follow the road as it bends round to the left (by Waitrose) but get into the right hand lane and take the first right up East Street. When you get to the top of East Street you have to turn right as it is a one way system. Do this and move into the left hand lane. You will need to take the first turning into North St which goes straight on instead of following the one way system right down the hill. Phoenix Place is the second turning on the right.
