Samira always has a variety of commissions and art projects on hand. Samira has worked with/done commissions for: Emergency Exit Arts, Bermondsey Council, Southwark council, Sure Start East Peckham, Dal Sterling Group, The Academy, Peckham, SW3 Club, Ci2i, Ballalouda, Propellar Business Coaching, Nutkhut.

Samira absolutely loves running workshops as she has great fun working with people and learns so much whilst doing it.

Samira is passionate about helping people to understand that the gift of being creative is available to everyone and should not be focused on the results but the experience.

Illustration work led to story ideas which has led to a successful career expansion in performance art and storytelling.

Samira has recited her stories for an ITV programme, has been offered a publishing deal for Freddie Fox and has performed her poetry at schools and art events around the country.

Samira is inspired by amazing artists she shares spaces with and these collaborations combined with commissions offered have lead to an variety of artistic projects.

However her main focus and passion has been and still is her 2D art. To Samira each piece of work has it’s own unique energy and to her it really is a birth and she has so much pleasure from seeing the picture find it’s home.

However Spring has sprung and we are ready to launch our new programme of arts related events! Many postive things have also emerged from this transition including more security for the studios as it looks like we have a minimum contractural period of two years to look forward to and in our time out of eventing we were able to do some structural work and build a new cinema. with surround sound and 15ft screen.

The new Zu will launch with a arts night dedicated to celebrating our second birthday at the beginning of April. If you would like to come to Zu events you need to be a member or come with a member on the night. Zu is now a membership club which not only help clarify matters legally but also means that we have the funding to be able to sort out much needed things such as heating!

Please support what we are doing by becoming a member, if you have no spare money but do have some time and positive energy you can also get FREE MEMBERSHIP by becoming a member of the Zu Crew which involves, helping at events, helping with maintenance, clearing and cleaning, fundraising and admin… help us with your skills, this is a community space and we invite you to be a part of making this magical space the most amazing it can be.

We are so grateful for all the love and support we have received especially during this challenging time. Zu Studios is a place of love in which everyone is welcome and we love creating this. Do not worry we will go on and on and get better and better, whether we stay on the Phoenix Estate for years or find an even better venue, Zu Studios is about creating a haven of beauty and love in which people feel comfortable to be themselves whether they are pixies, accountants or carpenters. Where young and old mix in an inspiring, safe and loving environment in which people are looked after and know who to ask if they need anything.

In the two years we have been here we have not only showed we can make it work but created unforgetable events and given thousands of pounds to charities close to the communities hearts.
